Latest on Sullivan

~We are long due for an update. We had a wonderful Christmas. We celebrated Christmas with our family at my parent's home. Boy did we make a mess. We opened presents, had a wonderful meal and enjoyed one anothers company. Sullivan was always in someone's arms! (surprising right!)We cannot wait until next year when he can really enjoy opening presents and getting into everything.
~After Christmas we went to Georgia to visit my Aunt and Uncle and to introduce Sullivan to his great grandparents. We had a wonderful time and of course Sullivan was a hit. We can't wait to go back. Aunt Susie and Uncle Kenny have a lot of land, a pond, and lots of motorcycles and fun things to get into. Matt and Brian are already talking about getting Sullivan on the motorcycles!
~ Sullivan had a Dr's appointment yesterday to check his weight. Since birth he has been slow to gain weight. At yesterday's appointment he weighed in at 7lbs 11 oz. The Dr. was concerned as were we. We have done some testing and are awaiting those results. For now we I am going to stop breastfeeding and give him strictly formula. Though it breaks my hear to stop I want what is best. We are hoping that the formula will plump him up. It could be just a simple caloric deficiency in my milk or it could be something else. We will await the test results and recheck his weight on Mon. If we still do not see an adequate amonut of weight gain then we will do more invasive testing. On a brighter note I will be able to donate all of my pumped breastmil to a family in need. At this time I am continuing to pump in hopes that I may be able to give Sullivan a little here and there with his formula and if that is not the case then I will continue to pump for the family in need.
On a brighter note I have a funny story to tell. My mom and I ran to Buy Buy Baby last night to get formula and of course to look around ( who knew that a baby store could be so fun). So as we are walking around Sullivan starts to squirm and fuss a little. He does this when he has gas. I kept getting little whiffs here and there , boy does he smell. So I thought maybe he has a dirty diaper. So we go to the changing room which I must admit was very nice. They had diapers, wipes, and anything you need for diaper changes! As I pick him up and tell him there must be something in his diaper because he smells so bad my mom starts to laugh. Oh yeah he has a load that has soaked through everything he has on and has completely filled his socks. Of course I forgot to put his wipes back in the diaper bag after I re-filled them. Thank goodness for Buy Buy Baby. Let's just say he had it everywhere, I have never seen anything like it. Sullivan just smiled the whole time as I gave him a bath with baby wipes. And, it only took 30 minutes! Ha!!! I'm sure there will be many more of these episodes.
~ We love our little boy more than anything and cannot imagine life without him. He is such a sweet boy. He rarely cries or fusses. He is starting to smile more often and is slowly starting to stay awake for longer periods of time. We are hoping once he gains weight he will be awake for longer periods of time. He still sleeps through the night( Dr. is ok as long as he feeds well throughout the day). I usually feed him between 11 and 12, then rock him for 30 minutes and put him in his crib. He wakes up between 6 and 730 depending on when we put him down. He did sleep until 9 on New Year's Day. Too much partying I guess!
~ On Thursday we learned that all of Sullivan's labwork was OK! We are so excited. So now we wait until Monday for a weight check.

Our New Bundle of Joy

Brian and I welcomed our first child a son on Novemeber 23, 2009, 3 weeks early. He weighed in at 6 pounds and 15 oz and was 19.5 inches long. He is absoluelty beautiful and we cannot imagine life without him. We still cannot believe that he is here and will be a month old tomorrow. So far he is a very easy going baby. He will sleep between 4 and 5 hours at night. He rarely cries ( could be because he is always in someone's arms) and is starting to stay awake more throughout the day. We celebrated our first Thanksgiving with our wonderful family. We are looking forward to our first Christmas as a family. We hope to keep the blog updated so that everyone can keep up with our sweet boy.

Sullivan's Statistics ~
Birth weight- 6 lbs 15 oz and 19.5 inches
Discharge weight- 6lbs 8 oz
One week- 6lbs 9 oz
Two weeks 6lbs 8oz / 6lbs 14 oz and 19.75 inches
